Keeping children safe
For children, young people and families. Easy Read.
This is the Easy Read version. You can also read the full version.
You have the right to be safe
Every child and young person has the right to be safe.
Nobody is allowed to hurt you.
That includes hurting your body or your feelings.
You have the right to say what you think.
We will listen to you.
You have the right to be treated with respect.
It does not matter where you come from, what you believe or what your body can do.
What our workers must do
Our workers have a special check to make sure they are safe to work with children.
In Queensland this is called a blue card.
Our workers must:
- be kind and respectful
- listen to you
- use nice words
- keep you safe.
Our workers must never:
- hurt you
- scare you or make you feel bad
- ask you to keep secrets from your family.
If you feel unsafe
If something does not feel right, tell an adult you trust.
This could be your mum, dad, carer, teacher or one of our workers.
It is not your fault.
You will not get in trouble for telling.
You or your family can call us on 1800 705 930
If you are in danger right now, call 000.
What we will do
We will take what you tell us seriously.
We will act quickly to keep you safe.
Sometimes we must tell people whose job is to keep children safe, like the police.
For families
You can tell us about any worry you have about a child's safety.
Call 1800 705 930 or email admin@everyhuman.net.au
You can ask us for a copy of our child safety policy.
It is free.
